Cassebaum to be inducted into Big 33 HOF

Former E-town football coach Jack Cassebaum is being honored again. This time, it's by the Big 33. Coach Cass will be inducted into the Big 33 Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. at the Hershey Lodge. He will also be introduced at halftime of the Big 33 game on Saturday night at Hersheypark Stadium.

I'll be doing a feature on Cass for this week's print edition of the Chronicle and will be sure to post it here as well. Congratulations to Coach Cassebaum on the honor – which is very well deserved.

Cassebaum up for Hall of Fame

I was just checking out my man Barry Ford's Columbia sports blog, Tide Talk, (which is fantastic by the way. Barry's very much in the know about the local sports scene. Anyway, Barry is a member of the Susquehanna Valley Chapter of the PA Sports Hall of Fame and posted this year's ballot.

One name that stuck out to me was Jack Cassebaum, former EAHS head football coach. If you're reading this blog, I'm guessing you all know who Jack is. But if you don't, I can tell you that he was a fantastic coach and an even better human being. Jack cares very much about the young athletes in this community and you'll still see him at football and basketball games. I've gotten to know Coach over the past few years, and I hope he gets in. He deserves it.
